Psoriasis is a chronic rash in which the skin in some areas forms 16 times faster than normal skin—thus making thick, scaly, itchy layers.
It may involve the nails and/or joints too. In milder cases, it may only require topical treatments. However if joints are involved, oral or injectable medications are often needed to prevent progressive irreversible joint damage. These more aggressive treatments may also be needed for patients without joint involvement, but with extensive skin disease (>10% of skin and/or involvement of sensitive or debilitating areas such as scalp, palms/soles, and/or genitals).
Thankfully, at VibrantSkin Dermatology and Laser Dr. Buster has many treatment options to successfully treat psoriasis.
