Our event last month was amazing and we so appreciate everyone who came out! Things have been quite busy so the November blog took the back burner. I’m going to keep this one short and simple. In observation of Thanksgiving, I want to thank you for trusting me and my staff at VibrantSkin Dermatology and Laser with your dermatologic needs. We opened this practice last year and saw our first patients on November 17, 2017. Starting a practice from scratch with the unorthodox concept of direct patient care with transparent pricing has been a growing and learning process as well as a substantial investment of time, effort and resources, but I am elated that I followed my heart and took this path. I sincerely appreciate all of you who have continued to trust me with your care through the transition from my traditional practice to this new format. I am also immensely thankful for all of you who are new. When new patients come, I do my best to ask how they found us and I especially enjoy hearing the answers! Many of you have found us via the web, others by word of mouth or through referrals from friends, and still others are referrals from fellow dermatologists—which is a great honor. Seeing the fruition of the idea of having a real and direct doctor-patient relationship that allows me to take the time to completely focus on you—the patient—has been vividly refreshing and has granted a glimpse of what medicine used to be like for everyone before insurance pre-authorizations, non-covered conditions, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, denials, therapeutic substitutes, and etc. Having a more intimate practice setting in which we see fewer patients, but spend more time with them has given me the opportunity to get to know more of you better—and I love that. Just yesterday after my son’s soccer game I heard someone call out “Dr. Buster!” when I was getting into my car. I turned around and saw a dear couple I’d seen at the office within the past few months and I was able to greet them by name, chat for a moment, and meet their precious grandson who had just played on the team opposite my son’s team. I may not always know the name and face of every patient outside of the clinical setting, but I do strive to learn something about each of you during your visits and that makes you more familiar with every encounter. This is one facet of how we provide customized, patient-centered care. We also truly desire the best outcome for you! Seeing your happy faces after skin is clear of acne, eczema or psoriasis, getting hugs after repairing earlobes from prior ear gauges, hearing gratitude after detecting and treating skin cancer, and watching confidence and elation radiate after filler restores youth—these are just a few examples of what brings delight and a sense of fulfillment in my role as your dermatologist. I look forward to the continued joy of helping you achieve or maintain healthy skin, hair and nails as we start this second year of our adventure!
