NovaThreads are very strong fibers made of polydioxanone (PDO) suture. Dr. Buster utilizes long NovaThreads to provide lift to the mid and lower face and the neck when there is mild to moderate sagging.

Short NovaThreads are used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Dr. Buster enjoys using short NovaThreads in conjunction with Botox and other neuromodulators to smooth lines on the upper face. They can also be used in a mesh pattern to stimulate collagen formation and improve skin texture.

Depending on the thickness of the NovaThreads used, they absorb completely within 4-6 months. As they break down, the NovaThreads cause new collagen formation in the skin. Results are immediately noticeable after long NovaThreads are used for lifting, but take 4-6 weeks to see after short NovaThreads are used for texture, tightening and overall improvement in the skin’s appearance.

Dr. Buster typically places long NovaThreads in one session and results last 6-12 months. Short NovaThreads for texture/tightening and smoothing are done in a series of 3-5 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart.

Novathreads can pair beautifully with filler in the right patient. NovaThreads are not a replacement for facelifts or neck lifts.
